UCSB Artists lectures

The UCSB Department of Art & College of Creative Studies presents The COLLOQUIUM, beginning on Thursday, October 2nd. The COLLOQUIUM offers a wide range of voices exploring the topics of contemporary art, theory, and cultural production by emerging and established visiting artists, as well as members of UCSB’s own distinguished Art faculty. All lectures are free and open to the public, held every Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00pm in UCSB’s Embarcadero Hall IV.

The Atkinson Gallery, Santa Barbara City College Art Department’s showcase for the visual arts, hosts six exhibitions of contemporary art each academic year featuring international, national, regional and  student artists working in a wide range of styles and media.–events.html

Student Galleries


The Arts Fund – The Teen Arts Mentorship Program is a 20-year-old program that was initiated with a 3-year grant through the James Irvine Foundation. This arts enrichment program has offered promising teenage artists the unique opportunity to work closely with professional master artists in a studio environment. Working in small groups, students spend 10-12 weeks producing a portfolio of work to be exhibited and sold in The Arts Fund Community Gallery or performed in a public venue.

Santa Barbara Museum of Art Teen programs

Teaching Assistant Program Teaching Assistant (TA) positions are for 15-18 year olds interested in art and working with children during art camps at the Ridley-Tree Education Center. Becoming a TA provides young artists with professional skills in art making and art education.

Teen Internship In this seasonal internship program, teens ages 15-18 create hands-on art projects with working artists, learn tricks of the trade from art professionals, and gain inside information on how the Museum functions.

MCA Santa Barbara The Teen Insiders Project (TIP) is a nine-month program designed to foster a lifelong love of visual art for the next generation.

Art Museums

Santa Barbara Museum of Art is open for free every Thursday 5 – 8 pm

Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara – Admission to MCASB and most of its programs are completely Free of Charge, however, visitors are welcome to make a donation or purchase a membership during their visit.

Art Student Scholarships

The Santa Barbara Art Association provides annual scholarships of $1,000 to a student at UCSB, SBCC, and Westmont College.

SBCC Art Scholarships

The Student Art Fund provides support for individual art student and/or art teacher projects of merit. Projects have included the Empty Bowls ceramics project, construction of a Shakespearian puppet theater, a cross-cultural photography project, a Stop Motion Animation project, a mural project, and more.
